# How to export Reddit mentions to a spreadsheet

Canonical: https://redwatcher.com/how-to-export-reddit-mentions-to-a-spreadsheet

**In short**

**Redwatcher has no export button, so Reddit mentions reach a spreadsheet one row at a time, through its webhook into Zapier or Make.** Each thread that reaches the score you set and is sent to the webhook becomes a row in Google Sheets, starting from the day you connect the webhook. Nothing posted before that day is sent.

Redwatcher is a Reddit monitoring tool. Tracks keywords, brand mentions and competitors across the
subreddits you choose, scores every match for relevance, and alerts by email, Slack, Telegram or
webhook around the clock. From $29/month per project.

## Can you download Reddit mentions from Redwatcher as a file?

No. Redwatcher has no export button, no CSV download, no bulk export and no API, and it does not pull
a subreddit's history. A subreddit is one of Reddit's communities, such as r/smallbusiness. A match is
a new post or comment in one of your subreddits that contains one of your keywords, the words and
phrases you tell Redwatcher to look for. Each match gets a relevance score from 0 to 100 for how
closely the thread fits what you want to hear about, and you set the score a thread must reach to be sent. The inbox is the screen in the app that keeps
every match with its score, including the ones that were not sent.

To get threads from Redwatcher into a sheet, you use the webhook. A webhook is a web address that
one service sends data to when something happens, so another service can act on it. Redwatcher posts each thread that reaches the score you
set to that address as one JSON object, a block of named fields such as `title`, `score` and `url`,
and Zapier or Make, automation tools that start a workflow when data reaches an address they give you,
turns the object into a spreadsheet row.

| You want… | Redwatcher |
| --- | --- |
| Mentions from before you started | No. The app shows up to three threads from the seven days before setup in a *Before you started* block, and those are not sent |
| **A row in a sheet for each new thread that reaches the score you set** | **Yes, through the webhook and Zapier or Make, from the day you connect it** |

If you need a file of past Reddit data, you need a scraper.
[Reddit scraper vs Reddit monitoring](/reddit-scraper-vs-reddit-monitoring) explains when you need a
scraper and when you need monitoring.

## Step 1: Decide which threads become rows

Only the threads that reach the score you set are sent to the webhook, so only those become rows.
Start at 70.

The second setting is on the Setup screen, the page in the app that holds a project's keywords,
subreddits, score and alert channels. A project is one such set, and Redwatcher charges for each
project separately. Its *How often* card has two choices. *One alert per thread* is the default and
sends only the first match on a thread, so the sheet gets one row per thread. *Every match* sends each
match that reaches the score you set, including several on the same thread, so a busy thread can add
several rows.

![The Redwatcher inbox: a thread scored 94, a competitor comparison scored 88, and a job post scored 24, each with the reason underneath](img/product-inbox.webp "**The inbox keeps every match.** The two threads scored 94 and 88 reach a score of 70 and would become rows. The job post at 24 stays here and never reaches the sheet. Example data.")

## Step 2: Create the receiving address in Zapier or Make

Redwatcher has no app of its own in Zapier or Make. Both receive its alerts through a
webhook.

**In Zapier.** Zapier's help article *Trigger Zaps from webhooks*, read on 3 October 2026, says to
create a Zap (Zapier's word for one workflow), choose *Webhooks by Zapier* as the app and *Catch Hook*
as the event, then open the *Test* tab, where the webhook URL appears, and click *Copy*.

**In Make.** Make's *Webhooks* apps documentation, read on 3 October 2026, says to add the *Custom
webhook* module (Make's word for one step in a workflow) to a scenario (Make's word for one workflow), click *Add* next to the *Webhook*
dropdown, give the webhook a name under *Webhook name*, and click *Save*. Make then shows the address
to copy.

## Step 3: Paste the address into Redwatcher's Webhook card

Open the Alerts step when you create a project, or the Setup screen of a project that already exists, and choose the
Webhook card. Paste the address into *Endpoint*, keep the *Signing secret* it shows, and save. Redwatcher
signs every request with the secret, so an endpoint you build yourself can check that the request came
from Redwatcher. Neither Zapier's *Trigger Zaps from webhooks* article nor Make's *Webhooks*
documentation, both read on 3 October 2026, describes a signature check.

![The Alerts step of Redwatcher's setup: four channel cards for Slack, Telegram, Email and Webhook, and a Create project button](img/product-alerts-setup.webp "**The Webhook card on the Alerts step.** It takes an Endpoint and shows a Signing secret. Every channel is on every plan.")

*Send a test* on the card confirms that the address works. Its body has a different shape from a real
alert, with the fields nested under `thread`, so wait for the first real thread before you map
columns. Then press *Test trigger* in Zapier's *Test* tab, or let Make detect the structure from that
request. Make's documentation names a *Detect new values* button for reading the structure again.

## Step 4: Map the fields to Google Sheets columns

Write a header row in the sheet first, then add the action that writes a row: *Google Sheets* with
*Create Spreadsheet Row* in Zapier, read on zapier.com/apps/google-sheets/integrations/webhook on
3 October 2026, or *Google Sheets* with *Add a Row* in Make, read on
make.com/en/integrations/google-sheets the same day. Choose the spreadsheet and the worksheet, and
put each field in its column. Map these fields to these columns:

| Column | Webhook field | What it holds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Posted | `createdAt` | When it was posted, written out in UTC |
| Subreddit | `subreddit` | The subreddit without the `r/` |
| Type | `kind` | `post` or `comment` |
| Title | `title` | The thread's title |
| Score | `score` | The relevance score, 0 to 100 |
| Why | `reasons` | The reasons for the score, as a list |
| Matched | `matched` | Your keywords that matched, as a list |
| Link | `url` | The thread on www.reddit.com |
| Author | `author` | The Reddit username, without the `u/` |
| Correct a score | `feedbackUrl` | A link where you say what was wrong and it becomes a rule, empty when there is none |
| Key | `id` | Redwatcher's number for this thread, the same on every resend |

`reasons` and `matched` arrive as lists, so join them with a comma to fit one cell. Skip `age`, which
is computed when the alert is sent and is out of date in a sheet.
[Reddit alerts to Zapier and Make](/reddit-alerts-to-zapier-and-make) lists every field.

## Step 5: Turn the workflow on and sort the sheet

Turn the Zap or the scenario on. Make's *Webhooks* help page, read on 3 October 2026, says that by
default a scenario executes immediately when Make receives data on a webhook. From then on, each
thread that reaches the score you set adds a row.

Google Sheets can sort and filter the rows once they arrive. Its help article *Sort & filter your data*, read
on 3 October 2026, says to select a range and click *Data*, then *Create a filter*, to filter, and to
click *Data*, then *Sort range*, then *Advanced range sorting options*, to sort. Sorting by Score puts
the threads that fit what you want to hear about most closely at the top, and a filter on Subreddit shows one community at a time.

## How many rows to expect, and how to change that

How many rows arrive depends on how often your keywords come up in the subreddits you choose, and day
one can be quiet, because only threads posted after the webhook is connected are sent. Redwatcher checks the subreddits you choose around the clock,
multiple times every hour, and a check is one pass over those subreddits. Each new thread that reaches
the score you set is sent to the webhook in the same check that found it.

If the sheet fills with threads you would not answer, raise the score or tighten a
keyword that is too broad. A row with a score you disagree with has a link in its Correct a score
column, where you say what was wrong and it becomes a rule.

## Why rows go missing or look wrong

Rows go missing or look wrong for four reasons: the columns were mapped from the test, the receiver
did not answer in time, the same thread was sent twice, or the score is set too high.

**The columns were mapped from the test.** A mapping made from the test writes empty cells,
because the test's fields sit one level deeper than a real alert's. Map again from a real alert.

**The receiver did not answer.** Redwatcher waits 15 seconds for a success answer (an HTTP
status in the 200s). If none comes and no
other channel on the project took the thread, Redwatcher sends it again on its next check. If Slack,
Telegram or email on the same project did take it, the thread counts as delivered and the webhook does
not get it again, so that row is missing from the sheet.

**A row appears twice.** Every send of one thread carries the same `id`. Sort by the Key column to
find the repeat, and delete one.

**The score is set too high.** At 90, only threads that fit what you want to hear about almost exactly are
sent. Set it to 70 and watch the sheet for a day.

## Is there a free way to export Reddit mentions to a spreadsheet?

No. Redwatcher has no free plan. Every project starts with a seven-day trial that takes no card, and
after that it is paid: $29 a month per project for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits, $49 for 50 of each,
and $89 for 100 of each. The webhook is on every
plan, every plan includes every feature, and team members are free. Every competitor you track counts as one keyword. Prices from [redwatcher.com/pricing](/pricing),
read on 3 October 2026.

Zapier's prices were read on zapier.com/pricing and Make's on make.com/en/pricing, both on 3 October
2026. Make counts each module action, like adding a Google Sheet row, as one credit.

| | Zapier | Make |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Plan with webhooks | Professional and above, not Free | Free not stated on the pricing page |
| Price | $29.99 a month paid monthly, $19.99 paid yearly | Free $0 for 1,000 credits, Core $9 for 10,000 credits |
| What a row uses | Not stated on this page | One credit per module action |

Pick Make for the lower monthly fee, with Core at $9 a month,
and Zapier if you already pay for its Professional plan or above, where webhooks are included.

## How this guide was checked

Redwatcher wrote this guide about its own product. The webhook fields come from the code that builds
the payload, and the score setting, the *How often* card and the retry behaviour come from the
app that customers use today. On 3 October 2026 we read Zapier's *Trigger Zaps from webhooks* help article, its Google Sheets
and Webhooks integrations page and its pricing page, Make's *Webhooks* help page, its *Webhooks* apps
documentation, its Google Sheets integrations page and its pricing page, and Google's *Sort & filter
your data* help article. We did not run a Zap or a Make scenario for this guide and did not buy either
plan, so the steps in Zapier, Make and Google Sheets are their own help pages' words. The screenshots
are Redwatcher's own screens with example data.

## Exporting Reddit mentions to a spreadsheet: questions people ask

### Can I export Reddit mentions from Redwatcher as a CSV?
Redwatcher has no CSV download, no bulk export and no API. Mentions leave Redwatcher one thread at a
time, through the webhook: each thread that reaches the score you set is posted as one JSON object,
and Zapier or Make adds it to Google Sheets as a row. The inbox keeps every match with its score on
screen, including the ones that were not sent.

### Can I get older Reddit mentions into the spreadsheet?
Redwatcher does not pull a subreddit's history. It reads the subreddits you choose from the day you
set the project up, and shows up to three threads from the seven days before in a *Before you started*
block in the app, which are not sent. The sheet fills from the day the webhook is connected. A file
of past Reddit data needs a scraper.

### Which columns does each Reddit mention row carry?
Each row can carry when the thread was posted, the subreddit, whether it is a post or a comment, the
title, the score from 0 to 100, the reasons for the score, the keywords that matched, the link on
www.reddit.com, the author, a link to correct a wrong score and Redwatcher's number for the thread.
The reasons and the matched keywords arrive as lists, so join them with a comma for one cell.

### Can Reddit mentions go into Google Sheets without Zapier or Make?
Redwatcher's webhook posts to any endpoint that accepts a POST with a JSON body, on `https://` and a
public host, answering with a success status in the 200s within 15 seconds. An endpoint you write yourself can add the
row to the sheet and can also check the signature against your signing secret. Redwatcher itself has
no direct Google Sheets connection.

### Why does a busy Reddit thread add only one row?
Redwatcher sends one alert per thread by default, so the first match on a thread that reaches the
score you set becomes a row and later matches on that thread stay in the inbox. The *How often* card
on the Setup screen has a second choice, *Every match*, which sends each match that reaches the score
you set, so a busy thread can add several rows.

### How much does a Reddit mentions spreadsheet cost?
Redwatcher is $29 a month per project for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits, with a seven-day trial, no
card, and the webhook is on every plan. Zapier's webhooks need Professional, $29.99 a
month paid monthly or $19.99 paid yearly. Make's Free plan is $0 with 1,000 credits a month, though Make does not say whether Free includes the Custom webhook, and Core is $9 a month for 10,000 credits. Each module action, like adding a Google Sheet row, counts as one credit. Prices read on 3 October 2026.
