# The best Octolens alternative for Reddit monitoring in 2026

**In short**

**Octolens scores every mention on every plan. Its cheapest plan is $199 a month, or $159 if you pay
for a year, and it covers ten keywords.** Each keyword after that is $10 a month. Twenty-five
keywords on Octolens is $349 a month billed monthly.

**Redwatcher is $29 a month for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits**, with every match scored 0 to 100,
the reasons attached, and email, Slack, Telegram and webhooks on the same plan. Octolens spreads its
ten keywords and its 15,000 mentions across fourteen platforms, so LinkedIn, TikTok and X consume the
same allowance your Reddit monitoring needs.

Octolens is a social listening tool for B2B software teams. It watches Reddit alongside X, LinkedIn,
Hacker News, GitHub, YouTube, Bluesky, TikTok, DEV and Stack Overflow, judges every mention with AI,
and pushes what matters into Slack, email, a webhook or an MCP server.

Redwatcher is a Reddit monitoring tool that scores every keyword match for relevance before it
alerts you.

**How we checked**

**Read off their own pages.** Every Octolens price, allowance and per-unit charge below comes from
[octolens.com/pricing](https://octolens.com/pricing), read tier by tier with the billing toggle set
both ways, and every "not published" was checked against
[their documentation](https://octolens.com/docs) as well as the pricing page.

**Checked 30 August 2026.** Tiers move. Check their page before you pay.

**We have not run their paid plans.** Everything here is what Octolens publishes about itself. Where
we describe our own product we are the source, and we have said so.

**Two numbers, and we print both.** The pricing page opens on annual billing and shows $159. The
page's own structured data carries $199, which is the month-to-month price. Comparisons on this page
use the monthly figure, because that is what every other price here is.

## Why people look for an Octolens alternative

Octolens filters every mention on every plan, bands it high, medium or low, and tags it with
sentiment and a category such as buy-intent or customer testimonial. That is the same product
decision we made. What separates the two is what a keyword costs.

The allowance is where the money goes. **Ten keywords at $199 a month**, and $10 a month for each one
after. A keyword on Octolens is what you monitor, so a brand name, three product names, six
competitors and a handful of the phrases people use when they have your problem is already past ten.

| Keywords you want to watch | Octolens, cheapest route | Redwatcher |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 10 | $199 — Pro | $29 |
| 25 | $349 — Pro | $29 |
| 50 | $599 — Pro | $49 |
| 100 | $899 — Scale | $89 |

*Monthly billing, computed from Octolens's own published prices: Pro is $199 for ten keywords plus
$10 a month for each one after, Scale is $599 for forty plus $5 after, and Scale becomes the cheaper
of the two past sixty keywords. Paying for a year takes $40 a month off Pro and $100 off Scale.*

Mentions are metered separately. Pro includes 15,000 a month, and mentions past that "keep flowing"
at $0.013 each unless you set a spend cap or turn the overflow off. That is a fairer design than
switching a keyword off, and it is still a second meter to watch.

**One match, two tools**

> **hiring a Klaviyo freelancer for a 3-month contract**
>
> *"Remote, part-time, mostly flow builds and deliverability cleanup. DM with rates."*
>
> — r/marketing, a post matching the keyword *Klaviyo*

**Octolens scores it and bands it low.**
It judges the post too, so it will most likely be filed low relevance rather than sent — and it still
counts as one of your 15,000 mentions, because *Klaviyo* is monitored across all fourteen platforms
at once. What you get back is a band, not a reason.

**Redwatcher scores it 24 and says why.**
The brand is named, but a job post holds nothing to answer — that sentence is on the thread. It is
counted under Skipped, where you can open it, disagree in one click, and have that correction
written as a rule the next job post is scored against.

Three rows are worth reading twice. **The refresh on the $199 plan is hourly**, and "real-time"
starts at $599 — Octolens is the only tool in this category that sells freshness itself as a tier.
**Podcasts, news, the web and newsletters are Scale features**, so the fourteen-platform list is not
what the entry plan buys. And **the per-keyword charge is $10 a month**, which is a third of a whole
Redwatcher plan for one more term.

The trial is seven days on Pro features, capped at 5,000 mentions.

## What the other platforms cost you on Reddit

Octolens watches fourteen platforms and **meters all of them out of one allowance.** Ten keywords and
15,000 mentions at $199, and a keyword is monitored everywhere at once — so a product name that is
busy on LinkedIn and X burns the mentions your Reddit monitoring was paying for, and the eleventh
keyword costs $10 a month whether you wanted it on Reddit or anywhere else.

Reddit is also one source among fourteen on the refresh clock: hourly at $199, with real-time
reserved for the $599 tier.

**Redwatcher points the whole plan at Reddit.** Twenty-five keywords and twenty-five named subreddits
at $29, posts and comments, nothing metered and nothing shared with a platform you did not ask for.
On the question these pages are about — watching Reddit and being told what is worth answering —
that is more Reddit coverage for a seventh of the price.

## Where Octolens stops

**The limits, tier by tier**

- Ten keywords on the $199 plan, then $10 a month for each one after
- Mentions are metered: 15,000 included, then $0.013 each unless you cap or disable the overflow
- The refresh is hourly on $199. Real-time starts at $599
- Podcasts, news, the web and newsletters are $599 features, not part of the entry plan
- Data history is two years on $199 rather than the unlimited history above it
- Multiple workspaces are an Enterprise feature, so two brands or two clients share one account below that

## Why Redwatcher is the top Octolens alternative

Five things, and they are the reasons to move rather than a feature list.

1. **Every match is judged before it is sent, on the cheapest plan we sell.** Not on a tier above
it, not behind a filter budget, not billed by usage. $29 buys 25 keywords, 25 subreddits and
   scoring on all of it.
2. **The score comes with its reason, in a sentence.** *"A buying decision in progress, with the
requirements and the budget stated"* is 94. *"The brand is named, but a job post holds nothing to
answer"* is 24. You can read the reason and disagree with it, which you cannot do with a band.
3. **What was held back is counted and browsable.** The inbox shows Relevant, Skipped and All side
by side. Nothing disappears quietly, so the filter is auditable on a bad day instead of being
   something you hope is working.
4. **Correcting a score writes a rule.** One click, and the correction goes into your scoring rules,
the thread is re-scored, and later matches are judged against it. The bar becomes yours in a week
rather than being a number you guessed at on day one.
5. **Setup starts from your website, not from a blank query box.** Give it your domain and it
proposes the subreddits, keywords, competitors, spellings and starting rules, flags a term too
ambiguous to monitor, and validates every subreddit against Reddit as you add it.

Then the plumbing: email, Slack, Telegram and a signed webhook on every plan, each with a test
button that sends a real message; Slack and Telegram in one click with no bot token or chat id;
unlimited seats; and separate projects with their own keywords, subreddits, rules and channels if
you watch more than one brand.

![Redwatcher's setup, reading a website and proposing the subreddits, keywords and competitors to watch](img/product-setup.png "**Setup starts from your domain.** It reads the site and comes back with the subreddits, the keywords, your competitors and the spellings people actually use — then checks each subreddit against Reddit as you accept it.")

![A thread scored 94 being corrected to 38, and the correction saved as a scoring rule](img/product-scoring.png "**A wrong score is one click, and it becomes a rule.** Say what was wrong, and the correction is written into your scoring rules, the thread is re-scored — 94 to 38 here — and every later match is judged against it.")

![Redwatcher's alert destinations: a Slack message, a Telegram message and a signed webhook payload](img/product-alerts.png "**Email, Slack, Telegram and a signed webhook, on every plan.** Slack and Telegram install in one click, and every channel has a test button that sends a real message.")

![Redwatcher's Stats screen showing per-subreddit coverage and every check hour by hour](img/product-stats.png "**Coverage is auditable.** Every subreddit, how much of it was read, and every check hour by hour — so 'we are monitoring' is a number rather than a promise.")

## What the product actually does with a match

Five things happen to every thread before you see it, and they are what the score is for rather
than a number on its own.

**It tells you why, in a sentence.** Not high, medium or low — the actual reason. *"A buying
decision in progress, with the requirements and the budget stated"* scores 94. *"The brand is
named, but a job post holds nothing to answer"* scores 24. The reason is on the thread, so you can
disagree with it.

**It shows you what it held back.** The inbox counts **Relevant**, **Skipped** and **All** side by
side — 3, 41, 44 on a normal day. Nothing is silently dropped, and you can open the skipped pile and
audit the calls. A filter you cannot audit is a filter you end up not trusting.

**You correct it in one click, and it learns.** If a score is wrong, say so on the thread. That
writes a scoring rule, re-scores the thread, and every later match is judged against the rule. The
bar becomes yours over a week instead of staying a setting you guessed at on day one.

**It shows where the match landed.** The matched term is highlighted in the title or the body, and
the thread says which — so you can see at a glance whether the post is about your term or merely
mentions it in passing.

**Setup reads your website.** Give it your domain and it comes back with the subreddits to watch,
the keywords, your competitors, the spellings people actually use, and starting scoring rules. It
also flags a term that is too ambiguous to monitor before you commit a keyword to it, and checks
every subreddit against Reddit as you add it.

Then: email, Slack, Telegram or a signed webhook, every one on every plan, each with a test button
that sends a real message. Slack and Telegram install in one click — no bot token, no chat id, no
pasted webhook URL. Unlimited seats, and a project switcher if you watch more than one brand.

## What Redwatcher does differently

The unit is the difference. Octolens charges per keyword and meters mentions; Redwatcher sells a
project at a size, and a size is a pair of numbers — 25 keywords and 25 subreddits at $29, 50 and 50
at $49, 100 and 100 at $89. Adding a competitor to a watchlist changes nothing on the invoice until
the size itself changes, and nothing counts what arrives.

Every match gets a score from 0 to 100 before anything is sent, on every plan. It is what
[Redwatcher](/) does, and the [pricing](/#pricing) says so on every tier. You set the bar, and only
matches above it reach you. The rest stay in the app, counted, so you can see what was held back.

The score comes with its reasons, in words rather than a band. A thread that scores 94 says why:
someone is asking for a recommendation, they named a budget, and no vendor has answered yet. If the
score is wrong, there is a button that says so. Correcting it adds a rule, the thread is scored again,
and later matches use the rule.

Projects are separate. Each one carries its own keywords, subreddits, scoring rules and alert
channels, and is priced on its own size, so watching a second brand or a second client does not share
an allowance with the first.

We do not write replies and we do not post them. That is a deliberate limit, and it is not planned.

## Which one to pick

**Octolens**, if you genuinely need thirteen platforms besides Reddit and $199 a month for ten
keywords spread across all of them is proportionate to that.

**Redwatcher**, for Reddit. Twenty-five keywords is $29 here and $349 a month there, you name the
subreddits rather than taking whatever fourteen platforms return, every match is scored before it is
sent, and nothing is metered.

Five other tools are scored and priced in
[the best Reddit monitoring tools](/best-reddit-monitoring-tools), where Octolens sits second on 70
out of 100 and Redwatcher first on 100.

## Moving off Octolens

Bring the keyword list across whole — the whole list, not the ten you could afford. Then give us your
website and we will suggest the subreddits to watch, which is the axis Octolens does not ask you for.
Set your score bar, point alerts at email, Slack, Telegram or a webhook, and leave it. Trial runs
seven days and takes no card.

If you also need the platforms outside Reddit, keep Octolens for those and run this alongside it.
Once Reddit is taken out, the two barely overlap.

## Octolens vs Redwatcher: questions people ask

### What is the best alternative to Octolens right now?
Redwatcher, if what you need watched is Reddit. Both score every match before sending it, so the
difference is what the plan buys: $29 for 25 keywords and 25 named subreddits here, against $199 for
ten keywords spread across fourteen platforms and $10 a month for each keyword after that. Twenty-five
keywords on Octolens is $349 a month. Nothing is metered on Redwatcher, where Octolens bills $0.013
for each mention past 15,000, and every subreddit is checked multiple times an hour on every plan
rather than hourly until you reach the $599 tier.

If you need LinkedIn, X, TikTok and the rest covered too, Octolens does that and Redwatcher does not.

### How much does Octolens cost?
$199 a month for Pro, or $159 a month billed annually, which covers 10 keywords and 15,000 mentions.
Scale is $599 a month, or $499 billed annually, for 40 keywords and 50,000 mentions. Enterprise is
custom. Extra keywords are $10 a month on Pro and $5 on Scale.

### Does Octolens have AI relevance scoring?
Yes, on every plan. It bands each mention high, medium or low relevance and tags it with sentiment and
a category such as buy-intent or customer testimonial. You can choose which bands trigger an alert.

### How many keywords does Octolens include?
Ten on the $199 Pro plan and forty on the $599 Scale plan. Each keyword past the allowance is $10 a
month on Pro and $5 on Scale. Redwatcher includes 25 keywords at $29, 50 at $49 and 100 at $89: the
count is set by the size you buy rather than billed one keyword at a time.

### How often does Octolens check for mentions?
Hourly on the Pro plan. Real-time refresh starts on Scale at $599 a month. Redwatcher checks every
subreddit you track around the clock, multiple times every hour, on every plan including the $29 one,
and does not sell speed as an upgrade.

### What happens if I go over the Octolens mention limit?
Mentions past your plan's quota keep arriving and are billed at your plan's rate — $0.013 each on Pro,
$0.01 on Scale. You can set a monthly spend cap or turn the overflow off in settings. Redwatcher does
not meter what reaches you.

### Does Octolens have an API and an MCP server?
Yes, both, plus webhooks, on every plan. Redwatcher has webhooks on every plan and does not have a
public API or an MCP server.

### Is Octolens Reddit-only?
No. It covers Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Hacker News, GitHub, YouTube, Bluesky, TikTok, DEV and Stack
Overflow, with podcasts, news, newsletters and the web added on the $599 Scale plan.

### Is there a cheaper alternative to Octolens?
Redwatcher is $29 a month for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits with relevance scoring on that plan.
Syften starts at $29.95 but its AI filtering begins at $49.95. F5Bot has a free tier, capped at 5
keywords and 20 alerts a day with a two-hour delay, which it marks personal use only.

### Does Octolens post replies for me?
No, and neither does Redwatcher. Both find the conversation and hand it to you.

/best-reddit-monitoring-tools | Every tool, scored out of 100 | Six tools against five published criteria, at each one's entry price.
/syften-alternative | Syften compared | AI filtering starts a tier above the headline price.
/f5bot-alternative | F5Bot compared | Caps every keyword's alerts per day, then switches it off.
