## How do you set up a Reddit keyword alert?

Setting up a Reddit keyword alert on Redwatcher takes four decisions: the phrases, the subreddits,
the score, and the channel. Give Redwatcher your website address and it proposes the phrases and
the subreddits, along with your competitors and the spellings people use, and checks each subreddit
against Reddit as you accept it. The phrases go into one box, one per line. A count above the box
shows how many of your plan's keywords are in use. It counts the saved phrases and the
competitors, and the lines in the box are added to it when you press Add keywords. Then you set the lowest score you want an
alert for, and connect email, Slack, Telegram or a signed webhook. Every channel has a test button

## What counts as a keyword?

A keyword on Redwatcher is a phrase you type, one per line, and each competitor you track counts
as one keyword too. The count against your plan is phrases plus competitors: in the screenshot
above, 7 saved phrases and 6 competitors make 13 of the 50 on the $49 plan, which the screen
calls Plan M. The four phrases still in the box are not counted until they are added. Once they
are, the count is 17. Your brand's name and its spellings are not in the count, and the spellings under a
competitor's name are not in it either. A phrase can be several words. The box in the screenshot
holds *email service provider* and *transactional email*, and the seven saved below it include
*abandoned cart email* and *email deliverability*. Every phrase is checked in posts and in comments, in every subreddit you name.

## Where do spellings go?

Spellings go under the name they belong to, for your brand and for each competitor, and Redwatcher
suggests them from your website. Redwatcher looks for a spelling the same way it looks for the name,
and a spelling does not count as another keyword. The Competitors step below shows six competitors with their spellings and
two more suggested. A phrase in the keyword box has no spellings under it: another way of writing a
phrase is another line in the box, and it counts as another keyword. Read from

## What are words to ignore?

Words to ignore are a list under the keyword box, and anything containing one of them is ignored:
it is not scored and it does not reach the inbox. The panel's own examples are *hiring*, *salary*
and *coupon*. A word to ignore that is also part of a phrase you watch for does not cancel that
phrase, so ignoring *flow* does not hide a mention of a brand with *flow* in its name. Redwatcher
suggests keeping the list short, because one common word on it drops every thread that contains
it. For everything else, set the score instead: a match with a low score is not sent, but it
stays in the inbox, where you can still read it.

## What does a keyword alert look like when it arrives?

A Redwatcher keyword alert carries the thread, the score from 0 to 100, the reasons for the
score, and a link to the thread, in Slack, Telegram, email or a signed webhook. In the screenshot
below the thread scored 94, and the same alert is shown as a Slack message sent in real time and
as part of a batched email digest. Slack, Telegram and the webhook take one message per thread, and email takes the threads from one check together. A match that
scores under your bar is not sent. It stays in the inbox, where you can read it, and it still

## What happens when a keyword keeps matching the wrong thing?

When a keyword keeps matching the wrong thing, Redwatcher gives you three ways to stop it: change
the phrase, add a word to ignore, or correct the score. You can edit the phrase at any time in Setup,
so a single word that matches too much becomes a two- or three-word phrase that matches less. A word to ignore drops every thread containing it before scoring. A correction is the only one of the three that says why: you say what was wrong, and it becomes a rule that every later match is
judged against. In the example, the thread that scored 94 is corrected to 38. The buyer wrote that they
wanted something under $30 a month, and the correction saved in the screenshot below, captured
30 August 2026, records that the example project's own plans start at $100 a month.

## How many keyword alerts can you have, and what do they cost?

Redwatcher's plans are $29 a month per project for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits, $49 for 50 of
each, and $89 for 100 of each. If you need more than 100 keywords or more than 100 subreddits,
ask for a custom plan. Every feature is on
every plan: scoring with the reasons, corrections that become rules, words to ignore, email,

A keyword alert from one subreddit only is possible on Redwatcher, because the subreddits a
project watches are the ones you name, and you can name one. Every keyword in a project is

against your plan is on the screen as you edit, with every competitor counted as one keyword, and
when a project needs more keywords than its plan allows, you can move it up a plan at any time.

### Do you get an alert for every keyword match?
Not every keyword match sends an alert on Redwatcher, only the ones that score above the bar you
set. Every match gets a score from 0 to 100 and the reasons for it. A match under your bar stays
in the inbox, where you can read it and correct its score, and it still shows in the inbox count.
