A lead on Reddit is a thread where someone asks for what you sell, before they have heard of you. The question looks like *"What are people using for this?"*, *"Any alternative to X that does Y?"* or *"We are choosing between A and B, which one?"*, and it is posted in a subreddit built for that trade or that problem. The person asking has a need and has said so in public.
