# Reddit mentions: your brand and competitors, named in a thread

Canonical: https://redwatcher.com/reddit-mentions

**In short**

**A Reddit mention, on this page, is a post or a comment that names your brand or a competitor
in a subreddit you watch. Redwatcher finds each one under the name and its spellings, scores it
from 0 to 100 with the reason, and sends the ones above your bar to email, Slack, Telegram or a
webhook. From $29 monthly.**

Redwatcher's figures are from redwatcher.com/pricing on 21 September 2026. The screenshots are
Redwatcher's own screens with an example project, captured 30 and 31 August 2026.

[Redwatcher](/) is a Reddit monitoring tool. Tracks keywords, brand mentions and competitors across
the subreddits you choose, scores every match for relevance, and alerts by email, Slack, Telegram or
webhook around the clock. From $29/month per project.

**How we checked**

**The prices and allowances on this page are Redwatcher's own,** read from
[redwatcher.com/pricing](/pricing) on 21 September 2026. Redwatcher wrote this page about its
own product. The screenshots are Redwatcher's own screens with the example project shown on
redwatcher.com, captured on 31 August 2026 for the Brand step and the inbox and on 30 August
2026 for the rest. The names, the scores and the reasons in them belong to that example and are
not a measurement of anything. We read no other tool for this page and priced none, and we did
not capture the screens again on 21 September 2026.

## What counts as a Reddit mention?

A Reddit mention on Redwatcher is a post or a comment, in a subreddit you watch, that names your
brand or one of your competitors, under the name itself or under one of the spellings you put
beneath it. A phrase you watch for, like a problem people describe, is a keyword match, and it
sits beside the mentions in the same inbox with a different chip. Every mention shows as a card
with the name highlighted in the title, the subreddit, how long ago it was posted, a chip with
the brand or competitor it names, the score from 0 to 100, and the reason under it. In the
screenshot below the third card names the brand in a job post and scored 24, and the reason
says the brand is named, but a job post holds nothing to answer.

![The Redwatcher inbox for a Klaviyo project: a thread scored 94, a competitor comparison scored 88, and a job post scored 24 and skipped, each with the reasons underneath](img/product-inbox.webp "**The Redwatcher inbox**, captured 31 August 2026. The second card names a competitor and scored 88. The third names the brand in a job post and scored 24, with the reason underneath, and it stayed in the inbox without being sent.")

## Which spellings of your brand count as a mention?

Every spelling you put under the name counts as a mention of it. The Brand step of setup asks for
your names with the line *However people write it. Spellings go under the name*, and it offers to
read your website and fill in the rest of the steps. In the screenshot below the brand has two
spellings under it and a button to add another name. Your brand and its spellings do not count
against your keyword allowance, and each competitor counts as one keyword whatever spellings
sit under its name. Read from [redwatcher.com/pricing](/pricing) on 21 September 2026.

![The Brand step of Redwatcher's setup: a website address read and summarised, one brand name with two spellings under it, and a button to add a name](img/product-brand.webp "**The Brand step of setup.** Captured 31 August 2026. Redwatcher read the website and summarised it, and the brand sits under Your names with two spellings, however people write it.")

## How does Redwatcher tell a mention that needs an answer from one that does not?

Redwatcher scores every mention from 0 to 100 for relevance and writes the reason under it, and
you set the score above which a mention is sent. On the example screen, a brand named in a job
post scored 24, because there was nothing in a job post to answer. A thread where someone was
choosing a replacement for a competitor they named scored 88, and a thread where a buyer stated
their requirements and their budget scored 94. When a score is wrong for your brand, you say what was wrong, and it becomes a
rule that every later mention is judged against. In the example, the thread that scored 94 is
corrected to 38, because the buyer wanted something under $30 a month and the example project's
own plans start at $100.

![The thread scored 94, corrected to 38 because the buyer's budget is under the vendor's starting price, and the correction saved as a scoring rule](img/product-scoring.webp "**The same thread, corrected from 94 to 38.** Captured 30 August 2026. Redwatcher writes the correction into your scoring rules and re-scores the thread.")

## How do you see only the mentions of your brand, or only of a competitor?

The inbox filter has a *Show* group with four choices: everything, your brand, competitors and
keywords, so one choice shows the mentions of your own brand alone and another the mentions of
your competitors alone. The search box above the list, labelled *Search your terms*, narrows the
list to one name. The *When* group narrows it to the last 7 days, the last 30 days or all time,
and the order is newest first or highest score first.

## Where does a brand mention alert go?

A mention above your bar goes to email, Slack, Telegram or a signed webhook, on every plan, and
it carries the score, the reason and the link to the thread. Slack and Telegram connect from a button in Setup, with nothing to paste, and every
channel has a test button that sends a real message. Slack, Telegram and the webhook take one message per thread, and email takes the threads from one check together. Read from [redwatcher.com/pricing](/pricing) on 21 September 2026.

![A Redwatcher alert for a thread scored 94, as a real-time Slack message and in a batched email digest, each with the reasons and a View on Reddit button](img/product-alerts.webp "**The same alert in Slack and in an email digest.** Captured 30 August 2026. You choose real time or batched, and every alert carries the score, the reasons and the link to the thread. Telegram and a signed webhook are on every plan too.")

## What does Redwatcher not do with a mention?

Redwatcher does not reply to a mention, does not post anything under your name, and does not
report or remove a post. It finds the mention, scores it, explains the score and links to it,
and you write the answer yourself, from your own account, if the thread deserves one, because
posting under your name carries account consequences that have been publicly reported. It also
watches Reddit only, so it does not cover a mention on X, Instagram, a review site or in the press.
[Reddit reputation management](/reddit-reputation-management) covers what to do with a mention
that needs an answer.

## What does tracking mentions cost with Redwatcher?

Redwatcher costs $29 a month per project for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits, $49 for 50 of each,
and $89 for 100 of each. If you need more than 100 keywords or more than 100 subreddits, ask for
a custom plan. Your brand and its spellings are not counted against the keywords, and each
competitor counts as one. Every feature is on every plan: scoring with the reasons, corrections
that become rules, the inbox filter, email, Slack, Telegram and webhook alerts, and unlimited team
members. There is no charge per mention. The trial is seven days with no card. Read from

## What other questions come up about mentions on Reddit?

### How do you track brand mentions on Reddit?
To track brand mentions on Reddit with Redwatcher, give it your website address, and it proposes
your brand with its spellings, your competitors with theirs, the keywords and the subreddits
where your buyers talk. Then set the score above which a mention is sent and connect a channel.
From then on every post and comment that names your brand in those subreddits is kept in the
inbox with its score and reason, from $29 a month. Read from redwatcher.com/pricing on
21 September 2026.

### Does a misspelling of your brand count as a mention?
A misspelling of your brand counts as a mention on Redwatcher when you put it under the name on
the Brand step of setup, which asks for your names however people write them. Redwatcher
suggests spellings from your website, and you add any others. The spellings under your brand's
name are not counted against your keyword allowance, so adding one costs nothing. Read from
redwatcher.com/pricing on 21 September 2026.

### Does a post that names a competitor count as a Reddit mention too?
A post or a comment that names a competitor counts as a Reddit mention on Redwatcher. It is kept
in the inbox with the competitor's name on a chip, and the inbox filter shows the mentions of
competitors on their own.
A thread where someone is choosing a replacement for a competitor they name scored 88 on the
example screen. Each competitor counts as one keyword, with its spellings under its name. Plans
start at $29 a month. Read from redwatcher.com/pricing on 21 September 2026.

### Do Reddit mentions in comments count?
Reddit mentions in comments count on Redwatcher the same as mentions in posts, in every subreddit
you watch, on every plan. A mention in a comment is kept with the comment, the name highlighted,
the score and the reason, and the link to the thread, and a line on the card says whether the
name was in the post's title or in a comment. Plans start at $29 a month per project. Read from
redwatcher.com/pricing on 21 September 2026.

### Why did a mention of your brand get a low score?
A mention of your brand gets a low score on Redwatcher when there is nothing in the thread to
answer, and the reason under the score says so. On the example screen a job post that names the
brand scored 24, with the reason that a job post holds nothing to answer, and it stayed in the
inbox without being sent. When a low score is wrong for your brand, you say what was wrong, and
it becomes a rule that every later mention is judged against.

### Can you get an alert for every Reddit mention of your brand?
Setting the bar to zero on Redwatcher sends an alert for every Reddit mention of your brand, so
nothing is held back, and every mention still carries its score and reason. Setting a
bar instead keeps a job post or a passing mention in the inbox and sends only a thread worth
answering. There is no charge per mention either way. Read from
redwatcher.com/pricing on 21 September 2026.

### How many brands can you track mentions of?
On Redwatcher each brand or client is its own project, with its own name and spellings,
competitors, keywords, subreddits, scoring rules and alert channels, and every plan has
unlimited team members. Projects are $29 a month each for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits, $49
for 50 of each, and $89 for 100 of each, so an agency with eight clients runs eight projects.
Read from redwatcher.com/pricing on 21 September 2026.

### Can you see mentions of your brand from before you started?
The first session on Redwatcher shows up to three threads from the seven days before you
started, in a block labelled Before you started, so you can see what the subreddits held. Those
threads are not counted as mentions and are not sent. From the day you start, every mention is
kept, and the filter's All time window reaches back to it. Plans start at $29 a month per
project. Read from redwatcher.com/pricing on 21 September 2026.

### Does Redwatcher reply to a Reddit mention for you?
Redwatcher does not reply to a Reddit mention for you, does not post under your name, and does
not report or remove anything. It finds the mention, scores it from 0 to 100, explains the score
and links to the thread, and you write the answer yourself from your own account, because
posting under your name carries account consequences that have been publicly reported.

### What does Reddit mention tracking cost?
Reddit mention tracking on Redwatcher costs $29 a month per project for 25 keywords and 25
subreddits, $49 for 50 of each, and $89 for 100 of each, with every feature on every plan. Your
brand and its spellings are not counted against the keywords, and each competitor counts as one.
There is no charge per mention, and the trial is seven days with no card. Read from
