Reddit social listening: what a listening tool does on Reddit, and what it costs you on Reddit when one allowance covers every source
Updated 21 September 2026
In short
Reddit social listening is watching named subreddits for what people say about your brand, your competitors and your keywords, in posts and comments. Redwatcher does it for Reddit alone: you name the subreddits, every mention is scored with the reasons, and the whole allowance is spent on Reddit. From $29 a month for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits.
Redwatcher's figures are from redwatcher.com/pricing. Brand24, a media monitoring tool that watches Facebook, Instagram, X, news, blogs and Reddit from one allowance, is quoted from brand24.com/prices. Both were read on 20 September 2026.

How we checked
The prices and allowances on this page are Redwatcher's own, read from redwatcher.com/pricing on 20 September 2026. Redwatcher wrote this page. Brand24's are read from brand24.com/prices in Chrome on the same day with its billing switch on monthly, for the one section that says how much of Brand24's allowance goes to Reddit. We have not used a paid Brand24 plan. The prices are list prices at monthly billing, not yearly rates and not what either tool has charged anyone, and the screenshots are Redwatcher's own screens with the example project shown on redwatcher.com, captured on 31 August 2026 for the inbox and on 30 August 2026 for the rest. The scores in them belong to that example and are not a measurement of how often the scoring is right, and we did not capture the screens again on 20 September 2026.
What is Reddit social listening?
Reddit social listening is watching the subreddits where your buyers talk, for the mentions of your brand, your competitors and your keywords, in the comments as much as the posts. Social listening in general covers many networks. Reddit social listening is the same job narrowed to one platform, where a mention is a post or a comment in a community you can name. Redwatcher reads both in every subreddit you name.
How much of Brand24's allowance goes to Reddit?
Brand24 sets no part of its allowance aside for Reddit. Brand24 is a media monitoring tool that watches Facebook, Instagram, X, news, blogs and Reddit from one allowance of keywords and mentions, and it counts every mention from every source against one monthly number. On its $249 plan that number is 2,000 mentions a month, for three keywords, updated every 12 hours, and a mention on Reddit uses one of them the same as a mention from X, Instagram or the news. Its 25-keyword plan is $699. Read from brand24.com/prices on 20 September 2026. On Redwatcher the whole allowance goes to Reddit: 25 keywords in 25 named subreddits for $29 a month, checked around the clock, read from redwatcher.com/pricing on the same day. The Brand24 review goes through all five of its plans, read cell by cell on the same day.
What does a listening tool watch on Reddit?
The subreddits you name, for the keywords you choose, in posts and comments. Give Redwatcher your website address and it proposes the subreddits, the keywords, your competitors and the spellings people use for all three, and checks each subreddit against Reddit as you accept it. A competitor counts as one keyword. Redwatcher listens to 25, 50 or 100 subreddits, depending on the plan, and to the same number of keywords. Read from redwatcher.com/pricing on 20 September 2026.

How is every mention judged?
Every post and comment that matches is scored from 0 to 100 for relevance, and the reasons are written under the thread. Under one thread the reason reads "A buying decision in progress, with the requirements and the budget stated", and that thread scores 94. A thread where someone is choosing a replacement for a named competitor scores 88. A job post that names the brand scores 24, because there is nothing in a job post to answer. You set the lowest score you want an alert for. Everything under it stays in the inbox where you can read it, and is not sent.

When a score is wrong for your product, you say what was wrong, and it becomes a rule that every later match is judged against. In the example, the thread scored 94 above is corrected to 38. The buyer wrote that they wanted something under $30 a month, and the correction saved in the screenshot below, captured 30 August 2026, records that the example project's own plans start at $100 a month.

Where does a Reddit monitoring alert go?
To email, Slack, Telegram or a signed webhook, on every plan. Redwatcher checks every subreddit you track around the clock, multiple times every hour, and sends a match as soon as it clears your bar, with the score, the reasons and the link to the thread. Every channel has a test button that sends a real message. Read from redwatcher.com/pricing on 20 September 2026.

Which subreddits should you listen to?
The subreddits to listen to are the ones where your buyers talk about your category: the communities for their trade, for your kind of product, for the problem you solve, and the ones where your competitors get named. Redwatcher reads your website and proposes them, with the keywords, your competitors and the spellings people use, and checks each one against Reddit as you accept it. Depending on the plan, Redwatcher listens to 25, 50 or 100 of them. Read from redwatcher.com/pricing on 20 September 2026.

Does Redwatcher post replies?
No. Redwatcher does not write replies and does not post them, and that is deliberate, because posting under your name carries account consequences that have been publicly reported. It finds the thread, scores it from 0 to 100, explains the score and links to it, and you write what goes into the thread yourself, from your own account.
