What does Redwatcher send to Zapier or Make?

Redwatcher sends Zapier or Make one HTTPS POST, with a JSON body and a signature header, for every post or comment that clears your bar. Your bar is the minimum score you set for a thread to be sent. Zapier (zapier.com) and Make (make.com) are automation tools that start a workflow when a request reaches a URL they give you, so Redwatcher does not need an app in either directory: the Webhook channel in Setup takes that URL as its Endpoint, and the same POST goes to your own server if you prefer to write the receiver yourself. The request carries three headers: Content-Type: application/json, X-Redwatcher-Event: match, and X-Redwatcher-Signature, which holds sha256= followed by an HMAC of the body: a SHA-256 hash keyed with your signing secret, so only a sender that holds the secret can produce it. Redwatcher waits 15 seconds for an answer and counts any 2xx status as delivered. The endpoint and the signing secret live on the Webhook card of the Alerts step in setup, or on Setup for a project that already exists.

What is in the webhook payload, field by field?

The webhook payload is one JSON object per thread with the fields below, and the names do not change between alerts, so a Zapier or Make mapping made once keeps working. A field with no value is null, and it is still present.

The example project is the one every product screenshot on redwatcher.com shows, and the values in the table show each field's shape and are not a recorded alert. age is computed when the POST is sent and goes stale in your records, so store createdAt or createdUtc instead. reasons and matched are JSON arrays. If you want them in one cell, join them with a comma.

How do you verify the signature?

To verify the signature, compute an HMAC-SHA256 of the raw request body with your signing secret, encode it as lowercase hex, prefix sha256=, and compare it to the X-Redwatcher-Signature header. The secret is the string shown under Signing secret on the Webhook card in Setup, and it starts with rw_. The HMAC is over the body bytes exactly as sent, so verify the body before you parse the JSON, because a re-serialised copy hashes differently. Regenerate on the same card issues a new secret, and once you save, every later POST is signed with the new one. Zapier and Make start a workflow from the URL alone, so if the receiver is one of those, the signature protects you when you add a step of your own that computes the HMAC. If the receiver is your own endpoint, the check is a few lines in any language with an HMAC function, and an endpoint that rejects a bad signature with a 4xx status will not act on a request from anyone who has the URL but not the secret.

How do you get Reddit alerts into a Google Sheet with Zapier?

Reddit alerts reach a Google Sheet through a Zap. A Zap is Zapier's word for one workflow. This one's trigger is Webhooks by Zapier with the Catch Hook event, and its action is Google Sheets with Create Spreadsheet Row, both read from zapier.com/apps/webhook/integrations and zapier.com/apps/google-sheets/integrations on 21 September 2026. The steps, in order:

1. In Zapier, create a Zap, pick Webhooks by Zapier as the trigger app and Catch Hook as the event, and copy the URL Zapier shows you.
2. In Redwatcher, open the Alerts step of setup or the Setup screen of the project, choose Webhook, paste the URL into Endpoint, keep or regenerate the Signing secret, and save.
3. Wait for the first thread that clears your bar, then press the button in Zapier that finds new requests. Map the fields from the table above: title, score, subreddit, url, reasons and createdAt make a useful row. ⚠️ Send a test in Redwatcher posts a differently shaped body, described below, so map from a real alert rather than from the test.
4. Add Google Sheets as the action with Create Spreadsheet Row, choose the spreadsheet and the worksheet, and put each field in its column.
5. Turn the Zap on. From then on, every thread above your bar becomes a row when Zapier runs the Zap, and the sheet is a log you can sort by score or filter by subreddit.

One project's alerts go to one Zap, and each brand or client on Redwatcher is its own project, so an agency that wants a sheet per client makes a Zap per client and pastes each Zap's URL into that client's project.

How do you make a Notion card from a Reddit alert with Make?

A Reddit alert becomes a Notion card through a Make scenario. A scenario is Make's word for one workflow, and a module is one step in it. This one's first module is Webhooks with Custom webhook, and its second is Notion with Create a Data Source Item, read from make.com/en/help/tools/webhooks and make.com/en/integrations/notion on 21 September 2026. The steps, in order:

1. In Make, create a scenario, add the Webhooks app with the Custom webhook module, press Add, give the webhook a name, and copy the address Make shows.
2. In Redwatcher, choose Webhook on the Alerts step or on Setup, paste the address into Endpoint, and save.
3. Make learns the field names from the first request it receives. Wait for the first real alert rather than pressing Send a test, because the test's fields sit under thread and a real alert's do not, so a structure learned from the test would not match an alert.
4. Add the Notion app with Create a Data Source Item, choose the data source that holds your board, and map title to the name, score to a number property, subreddit and kind to select properties, url to a URL property, and reasons joined with a comma to a text property. feedbackUrl in a second URL property lets whoever triages the card correct a wrong score without signing in to Redwatcher.
5. Turn the scenario on. Make's help page says a scenario with a webhook runs as soon as the webhook receives data, so each card appears when the thread is scored.

What does the Send a test button post?

Send a test posts a small JSON body of its own shape to your endpoint: test set to true, project with the project's name, thread holding a sample with title, subreddit, url, score and reasons, and sent_at with the time. The header X-Redwatcher-Event reads test instead of match, and the signature is computed the same way with the same secret, so the test is the right way to confirm the URL, the secret and the signature check. It is not the right way to map fields in Zapier or Make, because a real alert carries title, score and the rest at the top level, and only the test puts them under thread, as the table above shows.

What does the webhook not do?

Redwatcher's webhook does not read anything from your endpoint, sends nothing but a match or a test event, and does not post a reply to Reddit or anything under your name. It does not send threads under your bar: those stay in the inbox where you can read them. It does not follow a redirect, so the endpoint has to answer directly, and it does not accept http://, localhost, or a private address. If your endpoint does not answer with a 2xx within 15 seconds and no other channel on the project took the thread, Redwatcher tries the thread again on its next check. If another channel on the project did take it, the thread counts as delivered and is not sent to the webhook again, so a receiver that must not miss a thread is best kept on a project of its own. Every send of one thread carries the same id, so your receiver can drop a repeat.

What does a Reddit webhook cost on Redwatcher, Zapier and Make?

A Reddit webhook costs nothing extra on Redwatcher, where it is on every plan from $29 a month per project, needs Zapier's Professional plan from $29.99 a month paid monthly or $19.99 a month paid yearly because Webhooks by Zapier is Premium, and on Make needs one of the plans that start at $0 for Free and $9 a month for Core, though Make's pricing page does not say which one a Custom webhook needs.

On Redwatcher's side, the webhook is on every plan, $29 a month per project for 25 keywords and 25 subreddits, $49 for 50 of each, and $89 for 100 of each. Every plan includes Slack, Telegram, email and the webhook, a reason with every score, and unlimited team members. The price is per project, with no per-seat charge. On Zapier's side, the Webhooks by Zapier app carries a Premium label on its page, and Zapier's pricing page lists Webhooks and Unlimited Premium apps under the Professional plan, from $29.99 a month paid monthly or $19.99 a month paid yearly, and does not list them under the Free plan. On Make's side, the Free plan is $0 with 1,000 credits a month and a 15-minute minimum interval between scheduled runs, and the Core plan is $9 a month for 10,000 credits. Make's pricing page says that each module action in a scenario, like adding a Google Sheet row, counts as one credit, so the two-module scenario above spends two on every alert. Which to pick depends on what you already pay for and what the receiver has to do. Pick Zapier if your team already has a Professional plan or its workflows already live there. Pick Make if you want the lower price. Make's pricing page does not say whether a Custom webhook needs a paid plan, so try it on Free first. Pick your own endpoint if you need to verify the signature before acting on a thread, or if the receiver must not miss a thread and you want to check id yourself.

Does Redwatcher have a Zapier integration?

Redwatcher's Zapier integration is its webhook: Redwatcher is not an app in Zapier's directory, and it does not need to be, because Zapier's own Webhooks by Zapier app receives a POST at a URL it gives you and starts a Zap. Can you send Reddit alerts to a webhook without Zapier or Make?

Redwatcher sends Reddit alerts to any endpoint that accepts a POST with a JSON body, without Zapier or Make: your own server, a serverless function, or another automation tool with a webhook trigger. The endpoint has to be https:// on a public host, answer within 15 seconds, and answer with a 2xx status. The body carries the score, the subreddit, the title, the link and the reasons as named fields, and the X-Redwatcher-Signature header lets your endpoint check that the request came from Redwatcher with your secret.

What is in a Redwatcher webhook payload?

A Redwatcher webhook payload is one JSON object per thread with the score out of 100, your bar as threshold, the subreddit, whether it is a post or a comment, the title, the matching text, the author, the link on www.reddit.com, the reasons for the score as a list, the terms that matched as a list, when it was posted, the Wrong scoring link, and the whole alert as plain text under text. Every field is present on every alert, with null where a field has no value.

How do you verify a Redwatcher webhook signature?

A Redwatcher webhook signature is verified by computing an HMAC-SHA256 of the raw request body with the signing secret from the Webhook card in Setup, encoding it as lowercase hex, and comparing sha256= plus that hex with the X-Redwatcher-Signature header. Compare the raw bytes as they arrived, before parsing. What happens if my endpoint is down?

If your endpoint is down, Redwatcher waits 15 seconds, treats no answer or a non-2xx status as a failure, and tries the thread again on its next check as long as no other channel on the project took it. If Slack, Telegram or email on the same project did take the thread, it counts as delivered and is not sent to the webhook again. A receiver that must not miss a thread is best given a project of its own.

Why does Send a test look different from a real alert?

Redwatcher's Send a test button posts a body of its own shape, with test set to true and a sample thread under thread, while a real alert carries title, score, reasons and the rest at the top level. The test confirms that the URL, the secret and the signature check work. To map fields in Zapier or Make, wait for the first real alert, because a mapping made from the test would point at fields a real alert does not have.

Can the webhook and Slack run on the same project?

Redwatcher's webhook and Slack run on the same project, and so do Telegram and email: every channel is on every plan, a project can have several, and the same thread goes to each of them. An agency that posts a client's alerts into that client's Slack channel can log the same alerts to a sheet through the webhook from the same project. Can you receive only threads above a certain score?

Redwatcher sends only threads above your bar to the webhook, and the bar is the minimum score you set in Setup, so raising it sends fewer threads. Every alert also carries your bar as threshold and the thread's score, so a Zap or a scenario can add its own filter, for example a row only for a score of 85 or more while the inbox keeps everything above 70.
